A Message to Grade 12 Students
Parents / Guardians of Grade 12 Students,
Our grade 12 students remain a high priority for us and as such there are a number of items I want to let you know about.
I want to reassure you that your education is our number one priority. Teachers will start teaching their classes once again on Monday, March 23. Your teachers should already have contacted you regarding what they will be doing. Check your emails, Google Classroom, etc for information. If you don’t see anything please reach out to your teacher.
As of Friday, March 20, the June diploma exams are cancelled. Under special circumstances, students can request to write a diploma exam. Students wishing to do so should contact me at email@example.com.
With the cancellation of Diploma Exams in June, credits earned will be dependent on students completing their course work as determined by their teachers. Students are not being given an automatic passing grade. They will still need to be actively engaging with their teachers and courses to ensure they are progressing in achieving the remainder of the learner outcomes in their courses.
Like classes, this event has been canceled indefinitely. This includes the Saturday ceremony, Grand March, Hoodie Parade with SES, class pictures, and TA celebration. This was a very difficult decision for us to make and we understand that it impacts so many in our community. We know that students and parents are feeling sadness over the loss of this event as we know it, we echo that sadness and disappointment.
Once we get through this current Pandemic we may consider an alternative celebration. As of right now, we don’t know when that may occur or what it will look like.
Grad Hoodies/T-Shirts: This has been a long-standing tradition in our community and we understand that parents and students may like it to continue. As we don’t know what the future holds we are unable to plan for this. With that being said, we will provide ID Apparel with the front and back logo and if parents want to contact ID Apparel to arrange this we are in support of this. Parents will need to contact ID Apparel directly to arrange this.
Graduation portraits messaging from Lifetouch:
Lifetouch sent out a message to students to let them know of the plan for portraits. Here is the main message:
As a result of recent developments related to Corona Virus including the closure of schools and government recommendations regarding social distancing Lifetouch will not be completing scheduled graduation portrait sittings for the next 4 weeks. We believe social distancing is not an option, but our duty to each other. We will continue to monitor the situation and as soon as it is safe to resume we will provide communication on how to rebook your appointment. Any graduates that have prepaid sittings online and had their appointment canceled will receive a full refund. Please allow 4 weeks for this refund to be processed.
